From the title of the book, ‘Stealing Harper,’ you will depict what it is all about, stealing Harper. If you have read the book ‘Taking Chances,’ you know who Harper is and why “steal.” But please, do not read this book until you are done with ‘Taking Chances.’
I found the book cover perfect. The way the characters of Harper and Chase were described in the book compliment the cover. The only issue I have was Chase’s face looked so arrogant. The perfect fit would be Alex Pettyfer’s cute face.
‘Stealing Harper’ is not a sequel to ‘Taking Chances.’ The said books were written by Molly McAdams.
Guys are unspoken when it comes to their feelings that’s why I’m happy that the book is dedicated just for Chase Grayson’s.
In the book ‘Taking Chances,’ Harper is the one narrating the story from her own perspective. In ‘Stealing Harper,’ it’s Chase’s thoughts that touched me while reading it. All along, his friends and family knew why he was acting so weird every time he sees Harper and Brandon together. And while Harper is not around, there’s something happening behind her back.
It’s heartbreaking to learn Chase’s feelings which were not in ‘Taking Chances.’ Reading ‘Stealing Harper’ reveals Chase’s true colors, his real identity as a guy who is deeply in-love with a girl. The book also dwells on Chase’s dreams of having Harper in his arms and to be her one and only. He was unmasked as a loving guy that contradicts his boastfulness in the first book.
According to McAdams when asked why write Chase’s side of story, she said Chase was one of those characters that people fell hard for, and they fell fast, including her and me of course.
Chase is also mysterious in Taking Chances’ book but behind his bad boy image, he has care about others especially to what he called his own as “Princess.” It gives me goosebumps because my special someone used to call me “Princess.” Just a little backgrounder: I name this blog purposely for him, for encouraging me to come up with a blog so here goes… That special someone has resemblance to Chase for being mysterious. I love him for who he is — that way I loved him, nothing more, nothing less.
THE TRAGEDY. It was painful for me reading it for the second time — the tragedy. I’ll stop again here because I don’t want to be a spoiler. Though it’s fiction, I felt affected with what happened. The only thing that we can do when such tragedy happens is be strong enough to face it.
Honestly, in real life, it’s hard to cope with it. But God is good, He has plans for each and everyone. Let me share with you my favorite Bible verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” — Jeremiah 29:11-13
